O’Donovan Rossa Ladies club was founded in February 2010. At that time the club had 97 players registered at under 8, under 10, under 12,under 14 and under 16 levels.

There was great support and commitment given from the Under age boys’ football club and the senior football club with pitches and valuable experience shared. From that date the club has grown in numbers and success.

For the past 6 years O’Donovan Rossa girls have also taken part in the annual Summer Cúl camp. We were very fortunate in September 2012 to be nominated by the County Board and won Tesco Homegrown Club of the month Competition which allowed us to purchase two sets of jerseys for our under 12 and under 14 teams. We also received sponsorship from Richard Usmar ,from Premier planning which allowed us to purchase training tops for under 12 and under14 teams.
Ladies Teams
Over the past three years our under 8 girls trained conscientiously and played matches and blitzes against Dunmanway,Clonakilty and Bantry. Our under 10 team have played against Dunmanway,Clonakilty ,Rosscarbery, Castlehaven, Bantry and Caheragh securing a trophy in a blitz held in Dunmanway.

Both of our very determined under 12 teams played 12 and 13 matches during the 2013 season. The under 12 A team winning the West Cork championship against Kinsale and reaching the semi final in 2012 and the final in 2013 of the County A championship. A truly great achievement considering the club is only three years in existence.
Our under 14 won the West Cork C championship having beaten St. Colums, Kilnameela, Dunmanway and Caheragh in the final in Aughaveale in 2013.

On January 5th 2014,O’Donovan Rossa Ladies’ club celebrated a very successful 2013 with a medal presentation in The Pavilion. Cork Senior Ladies player and winner of 8 all Ireland Medals, Rena Buckley presented and posed for a photograph with each player. A very large crowd of parents and players attended. Refreshments were served and a very enjoyable evening was had by all.The 2014 season is well and truly underway with training continuing at all levels from under 8 to under 16 .
Huge thanks must go to all players and parents, mentors and coaches for their continuing support and commitment which will allow our club to grow from strength to strength.
